Nickel Digital Asset Management | Founder & Co-CIO

Alek Kloda is a Founder and Co-CIO of Nickel Digital Asset Management, an award-winning UK multi-manager hedge fund.

Mr. Kloda oversees the Nickel Digital Liquid Venture Fund as its Portfolio Manager, concentrating on a long-only strategy for investing in and actively trading digital assets. The Fund's success is attributed to the diligent efforts of the research team, led by Mr. Kloda, which emphasises a thorough understanding of underlying technology and economic value creation across different protocols. As the firm’s Co-CIO, Mr. Kloda also sits on the Investment Committee of all of Nickel’s funds.

In addition to portfolio management, Mr. Kloda oversees the engineering team at Nickel, developing sophisticated trading and risk management systems. These systems underpin the firm's multi-manager platform, accommodating both digital and traditional assets. With Mr. Kloda's guidance, the team has crafted an end-to-end platform facilitating collaboration with hundreds of trading teams. These teams utilise Nickel Digital's proprietary execution platform, featuring advanced execution algorithms and a real-time, tick-by-tick, scalable risk management engine, currently supervising over fifty distinct managers.

Before founding Nickel Digital, Mr. Kloda gained valuable experience in economic research and forecasting at Macrosynergy Partners and Toscafund, and at Liongate Capital Management as an investment analyst. He holds an MSc in Economics and a BSc in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE), where he also taught Macroeconomics. His entrepreneurial journey began after developing a successful inter-exchange arbitrage operation, leading him to leave the LSE's Economics PhD program to establish Nickel Digital.
