Michael Leto is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Co-Head of A&M Crypto, a division focused on providing a comprehensive range of advisory services tailored to the diverse needs of the digital asset industry and the rapidly growing ecosystem of industry participants.
Mr. Leto has over 20 years of financial advisory experience, specializing in operational transformations and interim leadership across financial services and digital assets, including cryptocurrency. His cryptocurrency experience spans cryptocurrency trading (derivatives), lending (collateralized/unsecured), digital asset custody, centralized exchanges, decentralized finance (DeFi), regulatory frameworks and settlements, know-your-customer/anti-money laundering (KYC/AML) protocols, financial planning and analysis, accounting, and global tax matters.
Mr. Leto notably crypto engagements include the global restructurings of Genesis Global Holdings and Terraform Labs and is currently a key member of the FTX Post-Effective Date Trust advisory team.
In addition to his work in digital assets, Mr. Leto has extensive experience as a leader in financial operations roles. He served as interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., navigating complex financial and operational challenges. Other notable engagements include Gibson Brands, Bristow Group, and the YRC Corporation. His expertise includes operational assessments, complex financial transactions, enterprise resource planning implementations, business strategy development, and financial oversight in distressed and high-growth environments.
