Luigi Buttiglione is a globally recognized economist, with extensive expertise in monetary policy, public debt management, and complex macro-financial strategies. His career spans academia, central banking, investment banking, and hedge funds.

Before founding LB MACRO in 2018- an international macroeconomic and financial consulting firm- he served as Head of Strategies at Brevan Howard Asset Management (2008–2017) and held senior roles at other leading funds (2003–2008), as well as Chief Economist at Barclays Capital (2001–2003).

Earlier, he worked as an Economist at the Research Department of the Bank of Italy, in the divisions of Monetary Analysis, Real Economy, and Forecasting (1989–2000). During this time, LB provided strategic counsel to the Governor on monetary policy, actively managed the Italian Republic’s public debt, and contributed as a member of both the Bank of Italy’s Forecasting Committee and the European Central Bank’s Working Group on Forecasting.

LB has also held academic positions as a Professor at the Universities of Milan and Bologna, a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University. He is the author of numerous academic articles in monetary and international economics. LB holds a degree with highest honors in Monetary Economics from "La Sapienza" University of Rome and an MBA from New York University.
