Salaries and compensation were once something that was hidden and gossiped about, but at Blockworks, we're committed to making the topic of salaries less taboo. We want every team member at Blockworks to understand and feel confident in our approach to compensation.
💭 Our Philosophy
We believe that mission, not money, is the motivator that brings this world-class team together. At the same time, we also know that compensation is a crucial part of the employee/employer relationship. While we have a robust philosophy, our approach to compensation at Blockworks is pretty simple: We seek to pay all of our employees equitably and fairly, regardless of position, tenure, or geographic location.
While it seems simple at the surface, inside that statement are a few philosophical pillars that drive our decision-making:
Equitable: We use a consistent, transparent, and approachable process to actively combat pay inequality. We're always looking for pay equity internally across new team members and new roles as well as externally across industries and geographies.
Data-Driven: While your cousin may think he knows what a crypto engineer should get paid, we prefer a more data-driven approach. We leverage external partners who are compensation experts to ensure we're using trusted and valid market data (in real-time) to benchmark and adapt our salaries.
Role-Driven: When deciding on salary, it's easy to help rationalize why one person's experience may be worth more than another's. To avoid bias and individual negotiations, we determine compensation for all of our roles without a specific person in mind.
Dynamic: Demand and compensation for specific roles and skills can change dramatically. We're committed to re-benchmarking and adapting salaries annually and sometimes more frequently to stay ahead of this.
Approachable: Talking about salary can sometimes make people uncomfortable, but we don't think it should. We aim to ensure that all compensation decisions are transparent, consistent, and easy to understand.
