Jameson Lopp Doesn’t Want to be Found
Even Lopp’s own relatives don’t know where he lives.
In the latest episode of Blockworks’ podcast “Empire,” Jason Yanowitz, Blockworks co-founder, sits down with Jameson Lopp.
Jameson is a bitcoin engineer, evangelist and author who has been living well off the grid since 2017 when an unknown person called the police and falsely reported a hostage situation at his home. The report led to the arrival of a SWAT team and police units—and eventually Jameson’s goal to burn down every trace of his identity. Even his own family members don’t know where he lives.
Formerly of BitGo, Jameson is now using what he learned to build Casa — a secure storage for crypto that he hopes will ease users’ transition into financial sovereignty.
On “Empire,” once a week, Jason interviews individuals that have built the crypto industry to talk about their struggles, bold moves and tough decisions. For any NPR or Guy Raz fans out there, you can think of “Empire” like a “How I Built This” for the bitcoin and crypto industry.
Episodes are released every Thursday morning.
