Digital asset software provider Lukka has appointed Kinga Bosse, former global head of strategic investments and partnerships at State Street, as its chief financial officer.

In her new role as CFO, Bosse will oversee all aspects of Lukka’s financial positions and fundraising. She will also be essential in expanding Lukka’s growth and reach, particularly with regards to traditional financial institutions, the company said.

In her previous role, Bosse built out the minority investments function and made early and growth-stage strategic investments, including State Street’s investment in Lukka’s Series C raise in December. Lukka has since closed a Series D funding round backed by billionaire investor George Soros’ fund.

“I see incredible demand emerging globally for the institutional grade solutions that Lukka builds,” said Bosse. “Our products and services are expanding rapidly and the international markets are fixed in our sight.

The news comes amid a flurry of new hires as Lukka seeks to tap into the traditional financial market. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority chairperson Eileen Murray was named as a strategic advisor in February. Stephanie Miller, former CEO of Intertrust and J.P. Morgan global head, was recently named as COO.

“Lukka has attracted seasoned leaders from the largest and most successful financial institutions,” said Robert Materazzi, Lukka co-CEO. “Their decisions are largely cultural and are compounded by the enormous opportunity in the crypto industry and at Lukka.”

Lukka currently serves more than 210 active crypto funds. In May, Lukka partnered with S&P Dow Jones Indices to launch three new S&P-branded indices to track cryptocurrencies.

“Expect to see many exciting updates from Lukka as we capitalize on the work that has already been done and as we take all of our products to the next level,” Bosse said.

With the recent election, it’s clear that there will be a meaningful shift in crypto regulations and legislation. Trump is likely as pro-crypto as a president can be. He launched (multiple) of his own NFT collections and is launching an Aave wrapper called World Liberty Fi. He has also spoken out and mentioned that he wants to make the United States "the crypto capital of the planet" and transform it into the "Bitcoin superpower of the world". He proposed creating a strategic national Bitcoin stockpile alongside support from Senator Cynthia Lummis, promising to retain 100% of all Bitcoin held by the U.S. government. More importantly, we’re likely to see deregulation across the board in a lot of industries, with crypto being one of them - as Trump has committed to keeping the crypto market largely unregulated. Crypto, DeFi in particular, has historically been knee-capped by overreaching and hostile governmental agencies and regulation by enforcement, as evidenced by the plethora of Wells notices and lawsuits over the past few years. With Donald Trump winning the presidency, Republicans taking control of the Senate, and being on the verge of securing the House, we think it’s likely that crypto realizes positive regulatory clarity.
